How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside.
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown,
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down.
I wanted a swing in the large maple tree out back. I've always romanticized about a garden swing; gliding through the air in a lovely old fashioned gauzy dress, billowing out around me. I finally have the swing. The dress will have to wait awhile longer.

We found a sturdy piece of wood in the garage, which I painted blue and rubbed, making it look rather antique. Then I painted the flowers on it. Bob varnished it and drilled the holes. I'm not particularly thrilled with the knots holding the rope on, but the important thing is, I have a swing! It's quite lovely, and drifting back and forth in the garden, watching the birds and sky, is very therapeutic.
